Another way that Bravo Company ensures reliability is the M4 feed ramp barrel extension. The feed ramp angles are modified as well as lengthened to ensure proper cycling of ammo and is standard on all BCM barrels. Another popular term thrown around when talking about barrels is chrome lined bore and chamber. This process is used to create a surface that is harder than the cmv barrel steel. The main point of this is not to increase accuracy but to increase reliability. The hard surface aids in extraction, chambering, and reduces fouling and corrosion, resulting in an extremely long barrel life. The outside of the barrel is also parkerized with a manganese phosphate finish that facilitates oil absorption providing extra resistance to corrosion.
